"Basic Settings" tab is used
to specify Ebook included files, TOC structure and output configuration.
Its interface is shown below.

"Source Folder": Used to select the source folder of Ebook included
files. Click "Browse" button to select a folder, and all its files
will be added to Ebook. If the contents of the source folder or any of the
source files have been modified, click the "Refresh" button to
view an updated list of files. "eBook File Name": Used to specify
the file path where the Ebook will be created. "Compression Level":
EbookMaker offers multiple compression modes. Compared with an uncompressed
one, compressed Ebook is of smaller size, saving disc space and server bandwidth,
and thus a greater download speed.
All files and subfolders under source folder are shown in the source file
list. The list contains five columns: "Source" - Display the file
name or subfolder name; "Start" - Select this check box to make
the file be the start page for your Ebook. When a reader opens Ebook, the
start page is displayed in viewer as default; "Protect" - Select
this check box to password protect the file. To view the file, it will be
necessary for reader to input the password. Please note that if you want
the option work, you must also enable "Need Password When View "PROTECT"
Pages" options within "Security" tab. "Search"
- Select this check box to include the file into the full-text searching
of your Ebook; "Include" - Select this check box to include the
file into the Ebook project. By default, all files located in the source
folder are included into the project.
EbookMaker provides an easy-to-use TOC (Table of Contents) editor. If you
want to show TOC with created Ebook, you should first enable the "Enable
Table of Content" option. Furthermore, to display TOC in Ebook viewer
by default, you should also select the "Show TOC at Startup" option.
The TOC structure can be automatically generated from scratch with a single
click of the "Auto TOC" button. Meanwhile, you are also allowed
to create and modify the TOC structure manually. You can insert TOC node
simply by dragging file from source file list to TOC editor, edit name or
path information of any TOC node by selecting it, and adjust TOC node structure
through drag-and-drop operation and toolbar buttons below the TOC editor.
These toolbar buttons are: "Insert" - Insert a new node before
selected node; "Child" - Insert a new child node of selected node;
"Delete" - Delete selected node; "Clear" - Delete all
nodes; "Up" - Move selected node up; "Down" - Move selected
node down; "Top" - Move selected node to first position; "Bottom"
- Move selected node to last position.
