"Security" tab is used to specify
expiration mode, protection mode and password type of the Ebook. Its interface
is shown below.

To make the Ebook expiration options available, you should enable the "This
Book Will Expire" option at first. EbookMaker offers three expiration
modes: Expiration upon a specific date preset by the author, expiration
after a certain period of the first reading and expiration after it has
been opened for a specific number of times, optional depending on the author's
need. After expiration, the author has two different ways to proceed: If
the "Need Password When Expired" option is selected, the Ebook
will be unable to be opened again. Otherwise, if this option is unselected,
then the Ebook will require a password to be opened.
Except for password protection after expiration, EbookMaker also offers
other two protection modes. "Need Password When Open": If Ebook
takes this protection mode, a dialog will pop out when the reader try to
open the Ebook, requiring the reader to put in a password to go on reading.
"Need Password When View "PROTECT" Pages": If Ebook
takes this protection mode, password will be required for reader to access
these files which have "Protect" column checked in source file
list within "Basic Setting" tab.
EbookMaker offers three ways of password generation: "Fixed Password",
"Computer ID + Password" and "Username + Password".
With "Fixed Password" mode, a predefined password is used for
Ebook. The Ebook author puts in a password in "Password" edit
box, and readers are required to obtain the password from the author to
access protected parts in Ebook.
With "Computer ID + Password" mode, passwords are generated based
on different computers hardware information. Once a reader opens Ebook on
a computer, a serial number is obtained about computer hardware information.
The reader sends the number to the author who uses "Password Generator"
to generate a password based on the number. Only with the password can the
reader access protected parts in Ebook. Different computers create different
serial numbers, and thus different passwords. "Computer ID + Password"
mode is therefore the best way to protect the right and benefits of the
author since it minimizes the possibility of illegal widespread of Ebook
password among readers. Please note: if this mode is selected, you must
define "User Key" at the same time to make it work. The "User
Key" can be defined with any words or phrases of your choice, or be
generated automatically and randomly by clicking "Random" button.
With "Username + Password" mode, passwords are generated based
on different usernames. Take a certain reader for instance, the author uses
"Password Generator" to generate a password according to the reader's
username. After he obtains his username and password, the reader may access
protected parts in Ebook. Similar to "Computer ID + Password"
mode above, you also need to define "User Key" in order to make
it work.
When the reader attempts to access password protected page, Ebook viewer
will pop out a dialog and ask reader to input password for continue reading.
The "Purchase Info" field lets you type the message that will
be displayed in this dialog, and the "Purchase Link" field lets
you enter website URL address for "Buy" button in this dialog
which should be used to direct the reader to your website for purchasing.
