HTMLCompact

When you start HTMLCompact, you will see its user interface (screenshot below). Area 1 contains six tabs, each of which performs a specific function; Area 2 has a series of buttons used for completing operations; Area 3 is a hint area for displaying help information.

HTMLCompact is very easy to use - simply select the web page or directory of web pages you want to compress, configure the options to meet your needs, then press "Compress" to complete the task... that's it!

Here is an example of how to use HTMLCompact, step by step:

(NOTE: For this example, the file we are trying to compress is c:\website\index.htm)

Step 1:
Select "Input" tab, then select "Compress following files". Press the "Add" button to add HTML file "c:\website\index.htm" and choose "Generic HTML Page" for "File type".

Step 2: Explore the "Output", "Compression", "Source Code" and "Tags to Skip" tabs and see if there are any configurations you would like to make for your project.

Step 3:
After pressing the "Compress" button, HTMLCompact begins to compress that web page. In the mean time, you may see the progress window -- when finished, the result will be displayed in "Result" tab.

This was just a basic tutorial, all the advanced topics will be discussed in the following sections.
