LinkSurvey

LinkSurvey has two setting sets, "Program Setting" and "Internet Setting"; you can access these by choosing the "View" menu and selecting "Option".

Program Settings consists of the following options:
  • Search Engine: LinkSurvey can submit query requests to several search engines at the same time. Here you may choose which search engines you would like to include, the default selections are Google and All The Web. To query via Google API, you should enter your license key in "Google License Key" field. If you haven't applied for license key before, you may press "Create Account" button to create your Google API account in advance.

  • Connection: "Max Connection" is the amount of requests that LinkSurvey submits simultaneously, which is set at 10 by default. If you use a 33.6K Modem to connect the Internet, it's recommended that using a value between 10 and 15. The option "Max Retry" is the number of times a query will be retried before it is considered failed; the default value for this is 5. "Connection Interval" is used to set waiting interval between two lookups on same search engine, defaulted as 0. In some cases, the search engine may regard a great number of lookups in short time as "spamming" and denies service. To avoid the denial users may designate longer interval. The "Server Timeout" setting control how long LinkSurvey waits to receive data before considering a network connection to have failed.

Internet Setting: LinkSurvey uses the same proxy and other network settings as Microsoft Internet Explorer. For details, you can refer to the help menu in Internet Explorer.
